Singapore Artist

Arthur P.Y. Ting

Born in 1946 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Arthur P.Y. Ting was artistically inclined from a young age. He came to Singapore at 17 to hone his craft at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. He then decided to further his studies in London at the London Polytechnic (in Interior Design) where he was awarded distinctions as well as job offers upon graduation.
While he pursued a career in interior design where he ran his own successful company, Arthur’s love for art never diminished. With the support from his wife, he decided to devote his time to his passion in art and created sculptures, fabricated from nails and bits of metal. He then proceeded to hold his 1st exhibition of his sculptures, “Metsculp”, at a trade fair.
Since then Arthur has won a number of awards, including the Australian Art Award in 1985. Today Arthur is a successful artist and works from his studio in Singapore. His works includes oil and watercolour paintings, sculptures, and three-dimensional representations of Peranakan architectural features.
