Asawari Wadekar

Asawari Wadekar, is a Singapore based Indian artist with a Master’s degree in Fine Arts. She studied Fine arts in SNDT University Pune, India in 1993.
Although raised in India, she has lived in various countries such as Thailand, England, Switzerland, France, USA, Hong Kong and Singapore. Her travels have richly influenced her works. She has been exploring different styles to express her work and has exhibited her works in many countries. Balancing between concrete and abstract styles, she tries to strike the right chord to express the subjects she chooses to paint.
Her recent works revolve around nature where she tries to depict the emotions it evokes in us translating through colours and textures in a semi abstract fashion. She likes to work mainly in acrylic and oils.
Her current series depict Banana trees in an abstract manner using a combination of oils and acrylics. Her artworks are recognised by her vibrant colour schemes and texture. The use of texture paste, different tools and layering techniques add an interesting textural quality to the Banana series.
